Has anyone relocated the turbo (not counting the 86/87 conversion)? Just curious.

Some have tried it, but, unless you are willing to custom fab parts, the only cost effective and most efficient way is to convert to the IC'd style set-up.
MHO of course . . . . .
im doing the same thing you are thinking of doing, got the bigger injectors and fuel pump, and hotwire kit, electric fan, and gonna be putting an inter cooler on mine, this guy 6 to go, in the forums send me pics and it looks awesome, here is what he pm me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you get the pictures I sent OK?
If so, what do you think of it?
I think this car will run 12's, if an 86/87
car will run 12's, and I certainly don't have $9000
in the mods. That is an Accufab plenum,
a used 87 turbo that I put a Poston rebuilt
centersection in myself. I cut the plenum and fitted the patch and had it welded, then I polished it
myself, the piping is nothing more than mandrel bent exhaust tubing from the local parts house,
the alt bracket has the ear cut off (SawsAll),
so there is not a whole lot of $ here, nor a lot
of fab work. the most expense is in the turbo, GBodyParts D/P, and the Accufab plenum.

How about some pics of this set up.
The set up as my mind pictured would be more like the Deez car. Only the turbo would be set on the stock header donut with a short up pipe. Short enough to keep the turbo low so it doesn't hit the hood. The questions I have are 1) is the stock throttle body going to have any problems as a "blow through as apposed to a draw through, and 2) with this set up can different/bigger turbos be used and not have to worry about the carbon seal delima of the hot air draw through turbos?
The answer is "Yes".
My question is;
What is your performance / HP goal?
I take that as a "yes" as in yes there are problems with making the tb a blow through and a good "yes" as in yes a turbo upgrade can be achieved by going this route. What can be done in the tb department to make this set up work properly? And lastly your question always seems to be "what are your goals?". That is a good question to ask in any situation. I guess (hypothetically if I actually do this) my short term goal would be to first use the stock h/a turbo, stock 86/87 ic and just see where that takes me looking at first for nothing more than just a noticable increase in hp from where it is now. If performance increaces with the stock parts in this conviguration I may then upgrade to something a bit better. My original goal when I bought this car a year ago was to leave it stock but after some mild upgrades and seeing the improvements that I have gotten from that, I'm willing to go a bit farther now.
Yeah I usually ask that, because I try to give purpose build advice.
I do not ask this to be an @$$ . . . .
See, the combination recipe of your goal is too critical to really give any answers.
Those that have the answers for their combo and goals have spend a lot of hours and $$$$$ in search of the answers, and may therefore not provide the answers.
Example;
Say your goal is to run 110mph on 93, vs 110 on pump and Alky, vs 110 mph on race gas and alky, vs 110 mph with race gas and NOS
Or
110mph at 20PSI on 93, vs 110mph at 20 PSI on Race gas, yadi yada . . . .
Anyway, you get the picture . . . . .
If you want to run 11’s It can be done in the stock location.
If you want to run low 10’s, you may still be able to do it. I can't answer that . . . .
So, take this post not as “advice” but more as "guidance" based on countless hours of research, reading, $$$ and testing.
Good luck!
