Hi,
My speedo cable is making noise, so I need to re-grease the cable. I have a question about the removal of the speedo cluster on an '87 without digital gagues. I need to get some help with it because I do not have a repair manual.
Can it be removed from just the front or does the lower panel under the steering column need to be removed. I have the the black finishing panel off, the clear lens off and the dummy light clusters but cluster still seems to be "stuck" in the dash. I know there is the speedo cable still attached, is there anything else holding it in? How do you remove the cable from the speedometer?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Dan

Remove the padded "hood" that surrounds the dash. It is held on by about 8 screws and this will give alot more access to behind the dash. You''ll then be able to slip your hand behind to depress the tab that holds the cable to the speedo. You can then pull out the center cable itself, re-grease and slip it back in. Hope that helps.
