I have a 2004r Trans that I am rebuilding and I remember someone was saying or I read to remove every other spring from the retainer? Is this recommended and what are the benefits or downsides if it is not recommended. My GN is not a high HP car but it is driven on the street and several times to the track. Thanks

Leave the springs alone and cut the apply piston .080" and add one clutch disk if it hasn't been done already.

This is a bad idea. Do not remove any springs. It will cause 4th clutch to fail.

I think what you read was on gnttype.org in a how-to trans rebuild. It is in the direct clutch as the brf used all 16 holes in the plastic retainer while most others only use 12.
