Has anybody have a set of GM replacement rockers that are L & R stamped ? Can you please take a look at them and tell me which way the push rod offset is for "L" and for "R" rocker . If looking straight down on the top of the rocker arm looking at the stamping . which side is the dimble on the rocker arm ? Left or right ? I trying to track down a rapid wear problem with my retainers and want to make sure these rockers were stamped right . Thanks.

They install as follows on the the following cylinders,
#1 #3 #5
L,R L,R L,R This is viewed from DRIVERS SIDE

#6 #4 #2
L,R L,R L,R This is viewed from PASSENGERS SIDE
Thats the easiest way I can think to explain it without being able to attach the service manual diagram.
You'll know you have it correct when 2 pairs of rocker arms for the same cylinder have the pushrod "dimples" both inboard, or closest to each other, if not then the pushrod will rub and or you'll wear out the nylon retainers. Hope this helps yah, Mark

Mark , that's the way I have everything and I'm still having a wear problem on retainers .

I had a similar problem with Melling replacement rocker arms. The boxes were labeled correctly, and even some of the rocker arms were too, BUT the pushrod seat WAS NOT stamped in the proper location. The rocker arms that were wrong were kinda like Black Oxide in color, and the correct ones were brite clean steel. Are yours this way also?
One other thing, there is only one correct way the shafts will bolt to the heads also, if there wrong, 1 of the shaft bolts will be VERY tough to tighten, or, wont tighten at all. Double check to make sure you have the shafts positioned correctly:cool: Mark

Mark , the rockers I have are GM replacement . And I did notice about the shaft only going in one way :) . The engine is on it's way out and back to the builder for a recheck of everything . thanks.
