Here's the deal...right now I am almost done with putting all of the motor back together minus the balancer and accessories and stuff like that...well basically I am replacing the crank sensor and bracket for added insurance down there and I need to know how exactly do you set this thing??? right now the motor is at TDC #1 after doing timing chain install...what's the procedure for this since gnttype.org is down? thanks guys

I just tried to center it on the balancer ring. I think I used a matchbook or something to verify clearance. Turn the motor all the way around when checking.

Just center the interuptor ring in the sensor and check all three in case one is bent to prevent damage of the sensor. I use a piece of plastic oil bottle for a feeler gauge, it works really well if you have to change a sensor at the track.

basically if i install the crank sensor incorrectly...the car shouldn't start correct? if it does start...it is set and don't mess with it?

I just re-placed my crank sensor after it loosened up and was chewed up by balancer ring. The sensor should have .030 clearance between the ring on each side. I cut a piece of the cardboard from the box it came in and stuck it between the ring and sensor when tightening it up. That's the only adjustment.
If you did your timing chain, you need to re-set the cam sensor after you primed the oil pump. A search on the board should help you with those.

NAPA sells a tool for setting the crank sensor...it's like $5...and you get 2 tools...basically 2 plastic strips connected at one end...just slide the tool in so a strip is on each side of the interruptor ring...tighten the bolt...done...clearances the sensor perfect everytime...

I always use one of those "Sucker" Credit cards you get in the mail. Cut a strip and use that. Never had an issue. Read it on one of these boards as well, so I am not taking credit for "originality".
