I am wondering if there is anyone in the midwest or close to Chicago IL that replates the GN wheels. Most people can replate them but what about the black paint? Any help will do thanks.

Brendan

Try True Design Wheel in CO. (303) 422-5090. They can completely redo 86-87 GN wheels including powdercoating of the center as well as rechroming of the center. I highly recommend them.

It varies for what you want done. I had 2 wheels completely restored which includes a new outer rim and rechroming/powdercoating the center for about $180/wheel plus shipping. If you only need a new outer rim, it's $90. It's another $90 for rechroming/powdercoating the center. Around $400 for 2 with shipping. They currently have 2 more of mine to put 15x8 outer rims on. They look brand new and awesome when finished.

Transwheel's http://www.transwheel.com home office is right around the corner from where I work. I stopped in there last week and asked about rechroming the wheels for a '87 GN. I talked to a manager type there and he said they can not chrome steel wheels at this time. They are looking in to it now, but it probably will be a while before they offer it. He figured it would cost at least $200 each to have it done.

I talked with Jim yesterday. He is the owner of True Design. My 2 GN wheels are ready. They were converted to 15x8 (new outer rim), rechromed/powder coated center for $175/wheel + ~$20 shipping per wheel. I'm anxious to get my 275 50 15s on these rims.:D

Its been 3 months since you posted this so I assume you got em back? How do they look? Would you have them do the work again? What was the total cost? Thanks!

The wheels are immaculate. My car goes in the body shop for 1-2 months on Friday so I haven't mounted my 27550R15 Nittos on them yet to get the complete look. I also have a set of 15x7s for the front that True design restored as well. The price was exactly what I wrote before and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I'll try to post again when the car comes out of the shop, if you are still interested.

Wish someone would make a template mask to make painting the centers easier!

It'd be a major seller, that's for sure!

Scott, thanks for the quick reply. Is there any way you can snap some digital pictures, then e-mail them to me? I would REALLY like to see how they turned out. Also, what was your overall turnaround time?

Thanks man!

I will try to get some shots this weekend. Send me an e-mail (smount@alaweb.com) and I'll send them to you.
