Has anying tried this? I'm looking for a way to reproduce the texture that in on our factory trim pieces. I have a few ideas for some fiberglass pieces I would like to make up, but would like to finish them to look like original trim pieces. Any Ideas?

practice...the distance from the piece you are spraying and the size of the hole in the spray nozzle is the "key". Knock it down with some REALLY fine sand paper when you are done...just enough so it isn't too rough. If you want a vinyl look...spray it heavy and sand it down until it looks like vinyl grain. :D

Curious as to what you are thinking of making?

Here's what i did to get a similar texture. I glassed a gauge pod to the a-pillar for that one piece look. Sanded, then used 3M rubberized undercoating believe it or not. I lightly sanded that and it came out pretty damn close. "Normal" people wouldn't be able to tell. I then sprayed with the correct gray interior color. As stated earlier, spray pattern and distance is key also. Took a little trial and error but it worked....and then someone broke in and stole it,

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my gauge pod, and also making a spot for the scanmaster there too. Custom kick panels are also on my list.
