A Canadian heading to the "Rock And Roll Hall OF Fame" in Cleveland OH staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel downtown for a few nights . then heading over to Cedar Point to ride some CRAZY rollercoasters , staying at Castaway Bay with the wife and 2 teens . any good info/pointers will be welcomed . Where to eat what to see , whats good/bad etc . First time out that way . :) thanks .

GOOD IDEA !!!! . :) but my wife would have my B---S if I took her to a track while on vacation . LOL :D

Now I know there has to be a shopping mall you could get seperated in for a few hours!!!:D :D

There is a charter boat tour out on the lake, but I don't recall what it is. I know some Ohio folks will chime in shortly.

I think Put-in-Bay was what I was trying to think of.

Cedar point the all time best for coasters...do not... i repeat do NOT ride the mean streak...the duel wooden one...it will tear your butt up..and your back

I'm also not a fan of wooden coasters . They wack you around to much/hard . I also was told of a WW II sub tour that's suppose to be pretty good .

Here's a link to some info on the USS Cod....
USS Cod

As far as attractions....the USS Cod is easy walking distance from the RRHOF and there is the Great Lakes Science Center Great Lakes Science Center Not sure if that sort of thing interests you but it is close by as well.

Depending on when you are in town there is also the chance to catch a Tribe game. The Official Site of The Cleveland Indians: Homepage

For "night life" it depends on what you are after and when you're in town.....

House of Blues Cleveland : HOB.com
Quicken Loans Arena

I don't get out much (I hate people/crowds  ) so I don't have much else to offer for tips. From where you are staying there's plenty of places to eat and things to do reasonably close.

MMMMMMmmmmm, corned beef.... Slymans Restaurant

Cedar Point is awesome.

Top Thrill Dragster is lame IMO, I'd skip it. If you ride it, don't say I didn't warn you.

I was in Cleveland recently for a training class at ASM International... checked out the Zoo it's it's pretty good, a lot of the buildings are older but the display's are well maintained. Orangutan exhibit over in the rainforest area was VERY good & the Lion area is right next to the food court.

I was impressed with the Science Center (easy walk from the Hall of Fame) it's very well done & has an IMAX that projects up onto the ceiling for a surround / immersion effect.

If you go to the R&RHOF (worth seeing once IMHO) DO NOT use MapQuest for directions, 1st time I was in Cleveland I used them& it routed me though the absolute worst neighborhoods possible. Drug deals, prostitutes working the corner... you name it we saw it on that drive, including one guy showing off his gun when we didn't want to buy some crack.

Foodwise, they have some good choices. One place inparticular stood out, a little hole in the wall diner type place called Your's Truly Retaurant on Chagrin Blvd. Great fresh food with some suprising items on the menu... if you're familiar with the Food Network this is the kind of place Guy Fietti(sp) should visit on the show "Diners, Drive-Thru's & Dives"

Top Thrill Dragster rocks!!! 0-120 mph in 3.9 secs. I wish my car would do that...

Actually now that I think about I loved that old wooden rollercoaster. My friend and me laughed our ass off the entire ride it was awesome.
