Yup they look like the comp rollers that came with my kit, which i will be pulling out of my engine tomorrow for a warranty return.
Only 6 out of 12 will take any kind of preload, it appears that the hydraulic plungers are jammed/seized in them. I love spending a fortune for crappy quality.
I belive it was stated a while abck they athe comps were the same as the sealed power lifters.

Lifters??
I have installed 2 sets of Comp Cam hyd. roller lifters (for friends ) this past few months. Both sets had defective plunger. (would not stay up) I had to foot the bill for all shipping plus wait untill they got around to inspecting them before they will return them. All fees must be paid up front. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. Crane lifters will be my next set. May or may not be any better. I know they make their own. I was told by a Seal Power rep @ the PRI show in Indy last winter that they made Comp lifters. If I make a mistake on my work, I eat it, doesn/t seem to apply to the bigger business. Have we all forgotten about the budget rollers and the Buick vendors who sold them? Who took the shaft on those? Its always the consumers fault!!!!!I feel much better now!!!

ok, i pulled mine out, cleaned them up and shipped them out this morning.
The number that was printed on mine were 09604, but are identical to the ones pictured. Ill see if they will even warrantee them as i pulled the snapring on a few in an effort to free up the plunger.

I think everyone gets there lifters from the same manufacture .I know crane makes there own roller lifters but comp has johnson tappet or someone like that make em . I know there's some new lifters made in south america that are very cheap but quailty remains to be seen.

I will NEVER buy anything else from comp cams. Their quality is straight up junk. The lifters suck, the springs suck. The last motor I built for my car required 2 different sets of lifters and 4 sets of springs before I gave up. Oh yea, that 4th set of springs I sent back also because they were supposed to be 110# seat psi at 1.70 and none were over 100 with most being 80-90. Comp tested them and said everything was fine
I found a set of springs at a local parts house that all were 108-115 psi at 1.70, but they were a speed-pro.

Far as I can tell, only 2 manufacters---Crane and Seal Power or Speed Pro.
I will try Crane if I ever need any more.

For those of you that have had problems with the lifters was the problem discovered after running the engine for some time or when it was assembled?...I have the lifters in the picture installed in my motor which now has about 800+ miles and about 12 runs...no problems yet...I checked them when I installed them and the plungers on all seemed to be OK...Lee in the defective ones you had are you saying the plunger would not come up to the top...like the spring was missing or seized?...were you able to push the plunger down at all?...just curious as to the exact nature of some of the problems with these lifters...
On my defective lifters, i discovered the problem right out of the box by pushing on the plungers with an old push rod, so i tried every method to clean them. I was able to get some of them working better, but a few were still screwed up. I ended up puting them in my engine and putting the intake on.
When i got my roller rockers and tried to adjust preload and realized that they would not set properly, my better judgement told me to yank them out and send them back.
I would imagine if you had a problem , they would be noisey.

First set was discovered after the motor was together and the intake off. Went to set preload on T&D's and 3 of them bottomed out the adjustment. I inspected the lifters and found those 3 only had plungers in them, no springs.
Second set I tested with a pushrod and 3 of those stuck in the lifter and would not come up. Never even tried to fix them, just called comp and gave them an earful and they sent a new set already cleaned and ready to go.
I think if your motor runs good now you have a good set. The only other thing you have to worry about now is when will the bearings in the lifter will fail. On V8's you need to replace comps lifters every couple years or every year if you run a lot of spring pressure (above 250). I have seen their lifters come apart and wreck an engine, this is why I bought crower severe duty lifters for my V8.

I have the same lifters. My engine builder (RPE) told me to let them soak in gasoline fo a couple of days. When I did this alot of black crap came out of them . I never had a problem with mine. Dont know of the gasoline helped or maybe I was lucky?>?>
