I HAVE A COMP 212/212 ROLLER CAM WITH SEALED POWER LIFTERS. I TRIED ADJUSTING A COUPLE OF TIMES STARTING WITH A QUARTER TURN, TO HALF TURN, AND CANT GET A COUPLE OF THEM QUIET!!! IT ALSO SEEMS THAT THEY ARE BLEEDING DOWN WAY TO QUICK!!! AFTER BRINGING THE ENGINE TO OPERATING TEMP. WITHIN AN 1 1/2 HOUR, MOST OF THEM ARE EMPTY, AND WITH THE VALVE CLOSED,YOU CAN PUSH THEM RITE DOWN. EXCEPT FOR 3 OF THEM. I CONTACTED THE VENDOR,AND HE STATES THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION. I CONTACTED COMP CAM, AND THEY SAY NO WAY, THERE DEFECTIVE. NOW THIS IS MY FIRST ROLLER CAM/LIFTERS, AND WITH ALL THE FLAT TAPPET STUFF IVE DONE OVER THE YEARS, IVE NEVER SEEN LIFTERS BLEED EMPTY SO FAST,UNLESS THEY WERE DEFECTIVE. NEED SOME INPUT ON THIS, AND ALSO WHAT COMPANY TO GO WITH,AND WERE TO GET THEM FROM (PRICE WISE) .AFTER I GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS, AND SEND BACK THE BAD LIFTERS, I WILL POST WHO THE VENDOR IS, HE IS A POPULAR ONE ON THE BOARD, AND IT SEEMS LIKE HE IS TRYING TO GET OUT OF HELPING ME RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I ORIGINALLY ASKED HIM FOR COMP LIFTERS TO GO WITH THE CAM,AND GOT THESE SEALED POWER'S AND HE TOLD ME THAT ALL HYDRO ROLLER LIFTERS ARE MADE BY THE SAME 1 COMPANY,AND BOXED TO DIFFERENT NAMES!!!!! SUCKS TO TAKE THIS APART SO QUICKLY WITH ONLY 150 MILES ON THEM.

bleed down

Did you take the lifters and clean them in solvent? It sounds as though the lifters are not pumping up. I have speed pro and comp cam roller lifters in a few of the engines. They are quiet and run smooth. They are also identicly made just marketed in different boxes.
Before i installed them i had them sonicly cleaned and you would be surprised how much metal particles came out. That would cause them to stick.

Peaches
What did you use to sonic clean them? I have a sonic leaner at work and we normaly use a special "microfine" soap solution, did you just use solvent in the sonic cleaner??

thanx
Rubes

THEY CAME OUT OF THE BOX, CLEANED IN FRESH SOLVENT, AND SUBMERGED IN FRESH OIL FOR ALMOST 2 DAYS,THEN INSTALLED!!
BUT THE PROBLEM IS I THINK A COUPLE OF THEM ARE NOT STAYING FILLED COMPLETELY, AND JUST A LITTLE NOISY, BUT YET, WHEN I HEAT THE MOTOR UP, THEN PULL THE COVER, LIFTERS SEEM SOLID, AFTER SITTING FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR, MOST ARE EMPTY, ON ONE SIDE OUT OF 6, 4 ARE EMPTY, AND 2 STAYED PUMPED UP SOLID!!!! AND THE VENDOR SAYS ITS NORMAL, THEN WHY DONT THEY ALL BLEED OUT!!!!!! AT THIS POINT, I AM GOING TO REPLACE ALL AND DEAL WITH HIM LATER. SO WHATS A GOOD RELIABLE BRAND, AND WERE CAN I PICK THEM UP REASONABLY PRICED!!! NEED TO GET THIS GOING A.S.A.P
THANKS, GUYS, PLEASE GIVE SOME INPUT.

Comp 853

Ran a bad batch recently. Luckily for me I caught it while trying to prime eng. and adjust lifters on eng. stand. Please e-mail me with the vendors name. I had to send them back to Comp Cam for new ones. Be prepaired to pay ALL shipping cost as that is their policy, unless your vendor will step up and do the right thing for once. This kind of thing has me rethinking whether all this trouble is worth it or not. And yes they are probably made by the same company. If yours and Comp are not the same, disregard this post. Best of luck.

Hey GTA
How did you adjust your valve train? Do you have adjustable roller rockers? If you have the lash adjust to tight or to loose then your lifters will be noisey.
Also what type of spring pressure are you running. Heavy valve spring seat pressure will bleed down a lifter.

T&D 1.55 ROCKERS, ADJUSTMENT STARTED OUT WITH 1/4 TURN TIGHTER AFTER PLAY OUT OF ROCKER WITH VALVE CLOSED, AND THEN TRIED 1/2 TURN.
THE SPRINGS ARE FROM COMP CAMS AS WELL!!!!! BUT WHY ARE MOST OF THE LIFTERS LOSING THEIR OIL!!!!! OUT OF 6 ON 1 SIDE, 4 EMPTY OUT FAST, WHILE 2 STAY SOLID!!!!!!!!

So what happened? Did your vender take care of you?

My Sealed Power lifters are still pumped up hard after a few weeks after being taken out of the engine.

I am trying to learn of a new and or different roller lifter.

You know, the very popular vendor on this board gave a song and dance over the sealed powers, although I spent a few grand in parts with this mut, being the lifters were about 10 months old, but had a couple hundred miles on them, I got the runaround. First time I see someone post - feedback on him, I will post all his stories as well. I have caught him in recent bulls-it stories before, One of the lifters got stuck in the down position, I still have it, So I put a set of comp's in there. There is still a little noise, but better than before. You would think being roller, it would be quite. But the opposite. If I had to do it again, I wouldnt use a roller, and put a nice cheap quite flat tappet in. Check this link about roller cam/lifter noises.

Bet you were surprised to see this thread come around again.

The link just took be back to this thread.

Go ahead and send me an e-mail if you do not want to post the venders name. I can appreciate that - some people cannot take any criticism and others will get extremely defensive - and not just the individual or vendor but other site members.

TURBOGTA1.
If you turn the motor 180 deg then the same thing should happen on that bank of the engine, the lifter won't bleed down if it's not up on the cam lobe.
The FM 5000 are the ones I have found packed with a heavy thick brown grease, they required cleaning. Just put a set of Comp 883's in a motor yesterday, they are working fine.

I used the comp 853's in the motor, I soaked them in mineral spirits over nite,All in seperate containers, lightly blew them dry, then dipped them in oil for a an hour, then rite in the motor. I have tried 1/4 turn, then 1/2 turn, no matter what, a little noise.

I ve heard chery roller lifters are the same as ours -any truth to it? - Wonder if anyone ever soaked them in sythetic oil or other oil additives like EOS or something, if that would help them from sticking. How much does a set of the #853s go for? Id like to get a set to clean and open up or experiment with.
