Reminds me of a guy on the Porsche board I post at. He down shifted from like 4th into 1st and the motor saw aporimatly 14,500 rpm's :eek: But the more amazing thing about this is that the motor had factory spec compresion in 5 of the 6 cylinder and only had a few bent valves. He could of fixed it all with not to much work but he decided to build a 3.6.

I had a '84 Toyota Corolla back in college and coming back from a baseball game I let a friend drive home as I had been drinking. We were on the freewy going about 55mph and he tried to shift from 5th to 3rd.... and the j*ckass actually put into 1st for a brief second and fully let out the clutch but then put it back in.... I saw the tach bury itself past 8000rpm (redline was 6000). I about died as I thought the motor would be toast. Well 25K miles later I sold it and it ran perfectly still.
