After running for a while without a hot wire kit I bought one and installed it. Before I did the kit I had 235/60/15s on it and when matted from a stop (no power braking) I would spin the tires at the top of 1st after the turbo had spooled. I then had 245/60/15s installed and I installed my hot wire kit and I could no longer do that anymore. I could barely get a chirp from it. Then today I wanted to see if my car was running rich (no scan tool) so I just simply plugged in the fuel pump harness into the stock position and I did notice quicker spool but again no spinning of 245/60/15s at top of first gear. Also when matted it will take off nice but then all of a sudden its like a giant kicked me in the back end of the car and it just pulls like 10 times harder. My theory is I am lean when under a load (without hot wire) and then as the engine can spin and the load decreases the pump can supply enough fuel to make it pull like mad. When the hot wire kit is hooked up my theory is it is rich all the time but it does not explain why I could spin the tires at top of 1st without the kit and 235/60/15s ( I knwo the 235s are shorter then 245s but these engines make TONS of torque so I dont think it would make much of a difference). Maybe there is something else wrong with the car that I am overlooking and maybe someone could help me. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

you and them damn rocks....... it's a good thing you don't own a cow farm. i'd be "back under(udder) betsy"......

are the 245's a different brand than the 235's if so they may have better taction. ET Streets will hook better that Dunlop snow tires:) check your tires get a scan tool.

Not sure but the 237 regulator may not be able to keep the pressure at 45 PSI with the hotwire kit and high flow fuel pump. I remember someone posting something to that effect awhile back.

my neighbor hasn a 87 w/the 237 reg. and hotwire kit and he reports no FP probs.

oh well all cars are different:cool:

The tires are BFGoodrich Radial TAs. Both were the same brand. About me doing all that work and no scan tool. I bought the car pretty much as is. I guess I'll have to spend the money and get a SM. I will get you guys some numbers when I get it all hooked up and maybe it will help some. Thanks!

im sure it will help. i heard one guy say his car went from probably low 12's to 10's from just tuning. ive found that tuning in these cars is KEY for MAX performance. i use my neighbors Turbolink which you need a laptop for and it is very good and has lots of useful info and it even tells you how to fix a problem on your car that sets off a code. BTW, my dad has some BFG comp T/A's i want to use when i go to the track. they are 315/35/17's i believe (not sure on the profile and rim width but i know they are 315's) so i think they should hook pretty well. the guy my dad got them from (for $100) said he would snap a ring gear before he breaks them loose:eek: of course he was talking about puttting them on a 87 Vette:D

When I hooked my hotwire kit up my 237 regulator could not keep pressure below 50#
Besides a scan tool you need a real FPR and a FP gauge.

Do have cows. Sheep too. You gotta be sure what kinda rock you are hiding under.

FYI 235/60/15 = 26.10 inches tall
245/60/15 = 26.57 inches tall

As you can see, about a half inch taller tire. That may be part of the reason your not burning the tires in first anymore.. Just my 0.02
