scan tools whats the best

who makes the very best scan tool for ower cars and i want to beable to read everything thats going on with the car thanks

IMO the best for daily driving is the scanmaster. Its the size of a deck of cards and I have mine on the dash right in front of my face. Its always there. For racing, IMO Direct Scan is the best since it records so much more data than aldl port scanners. Something in the range of 16 fps. Problem is that you need a laptop. I have both. Scanmaster for daily driving and DS for when I'm at the track.

yhea i was thinking about direct scan and i already have a scan master but i really want to get somthing that read everything like boost, air fuel , etc but yhea thanks for the input black6pack

Just got the DS, and if you're not ready it'll overwhelm you with information. It's neat. I'm still trying to figure out how to tune with it. Check up on it.

Chance, our ECM's do not read boost, or air/fuel--sorry. You could have Bob Bailey install a MAP input in your ECM ( around $125 ), then you could purchase a MAP harness for Caspers to tie in your MAP sensor to the ECM. As for air/fuel, our ECM's see narrow band. MV's only. You will need to purchase a Wide Band kit to monitor and record A/F's. HTH, Brian

Very true, can have you scratching your head a couple of times. DS reads 18 FPS. you get pretty much everything you would need from it. but does take some time to learn it.
