Scanmaster mount metra kit unavailable

Hi all,

I finally got a Scanmaster, but I don't want to mount it on top of the radio pod like most I've seen. I wanted to mount it in the radio pod, above the radio using a Metra kit 99-4812. This kit is apparently no longer available. Any suggestions--or does anyone know who actually has this kit in stock? Any other suggestions as to where to locate the Scanmaster and make it look like it belongs there?

This is the idea I wanted to use, but the thread is quite old and I'm sure the kit was available back then.

i installed my SM like that.. untill it was stolen along with the radio.

just go in to any audio store and ask for the GM kit with the EQ. that is what i used. also you may wanna try the local auto parts stores and walmart. i have seen a few other brands just get the one with the EQ like i said

i hope this helps i dont have the pics of the install but it looked good. if i may say so. i used some stainless as trim.

man.. i will do that if i get an other aftermarket deck.

In Dec. 2002 I bought a Metra kit from Parts Express for myScanmaster Install and in Dec.2002 Part # 99-4812 wasn't available at Parts Express.I just bought a universal GM kit,can't recall part#.Even if you find #99-4812 it's not a gonna be a direct install.I cut mine up in a bunch of pieces with a dremel tool and JB Welded it together to get the right fit.You will prolly have to modify it to get the stereo to sit as low as possible.
