Scanmaster USEAGE?

Here is a dumb question.

Are the scanmasters for Turbo buicks usable in any other cars?

In theory you could use them with any of the other 3.8 SFI cars that use the same ECM as ours. Look up donor cars for ECM's in the Junkyard Dogs section, it has a whole list.

There are other scanmaster models for other cars. DSM, other GM cars. But the answer is no. Scanmaster II won't even work in a 84-85 TR.

I really do think that it would work with any car that has the same ECM...

Well it does not work with any 84-85 TR, and those have the same computer, almost. No other car has the same exact ecm as the TR 86-87. It only works on the 86-87 TRs, I have tried on my Other cars. no luck.

The 8th character of the VIN will be the letter B or the number 3.
They are only found in the 1986 model year.

This is the same ECM that the 86/7 TR's use. I believe that the Scanmaster would work with these cars.
