*****I don't have Postons headers but I have had sealing problems of my own with others. Check and make sure flange(s) are not warped if these are used (or new for that matter..) headers. Also make sure you are using the correct length bolts that are not bottoming out in the head and causing the header to be loose - I made this mistake on another car.. If the header is properly made, it should not require a gasket, and it should not leak. The stock manifolds did not use a gasket.

I have an ATR replacement drivers side header and I had to have it's flange slightly milled to get it flat as it leaked and kept burning up gaskets. After getting it fixed, I used a bit of RTV as insurance, but it has sealed up real nice and the RTV was probably overkill. After I fixed the leak, the car was noticeably faster to spool up, and my BLM's dropped to normal ranges.

Good luck

I have had this problem too, used copper rtv high temp, did not seal, I put on a set of copper gaskets from sce, problem now fixed. The copper gaskets are very close to being to big, but did seal up good.

Thanks
Bill

Use gaskets. I tried to use the Postons with just Copper RTV and they leaked like a sieve. One other note, I also had to return two set to Postons because they had leaks around the tube to flange welds. Current set seems okay but they don't have that many miles on them.

HTH.

cracked

My poston headers cracked on pass side.I rewelded them and made some gussets so far so good.

Felpro 1400's

I agree. I have them and plan to install them soon. gthe RTV is only rated for 700 degrees on a temporary basis. It will dry and turn to powder when that temp is reached for sustained lengths of time. I found this out when I removed my old cat.

Is this a Normal problem with their headers?? Or is it a problem with Anyones headers???

Good question I have them on two cars one a daily driver the other i race .the one on the race car cracked but the daily driver is fine.I think it had to to a lot with the turbo bracket not being used .

Ahh. I guess Ill still leave mine on BO with Poston. After all, my GN will only be a daily driver ;)

1400's did the trick, and so far no cracking.

Anyone have a problem with the turbo bell being clocked a bit high and it smacking the upper IC pipe?

I had to run a 1/2 spacer so the inlet pipe would not bang on the IC pipe.

One thing I found is not to go crazy cranking the bolts down. I made sure they were all good and snug. No problems after just over 3000 miles.

sealing

SCE # 4072 is what I used, they do appear to large but worked fine with 445 heads and drivers side header.

Thanks
Bill

the felpro 1400 solved my leaks with the Poston headers. I tried copper gaskets and they leaked like mad. I have been told the felpros can even be used over again, althrough I have never been that brave..

I have reused the 1400 on several motors. I even save the used ones for friends. It is a great header gasket. Never had much luck with coppers , plus they are over priced especially if they dont work
