is it possible for me to dye my front seat belts and not risk structural integrity of the belts? i dont want to damage them. but they are sun faded. and finding nice replacements are expensive and a pita to change. any insight is appreciated

I once tried dying a mustang seat belt from blue to black, using some RIT clothing dye (stuff from Walmart arts/craft section) and it worked OK, it seemed like you could still see the blue in it, but I think if I gave it more time it would of came out better.
