servo?

My tranny seems like it is finally working right, its only the 4th try.. but they said that they replaced the servo in the tranny, what does this servo do exactly? my friends have been asking me what it does and I'm like uh, it does stuff to make it shift better. some one please help and make me not sound like such a dumb @$$, thanks...

The servo is used to apply the the band, which when applied makes your 2nd gear shift, it then in turn acts as an accum. to release band for 3rd. Larger servo applies more holding force to the band and quicker release for 3rd. Hope this helps.

BUzzzzzzz incorrect. A larger servo does not have a quicker release of 2nd. The outer piston is larger so it takes more pressure in turn takes longer to knock the band off. If the VB is not properly calibrated for the larger servo it will cause in most cases an overlap of the 2-3 shift better know as a bind up. If calibrated properly the larger billet servo is a good choice.

IT DEPENDS ON THE SERVO .OURS HAS A LARGER VOLUME OF OIL APPLIED TO RELEASE SIDE WHICH DOES RESULT IN A QUICKER SHIFT .BAND CLEARANCEW EFFECTS THIS ALSO BECAUSE THE FURTHER THE SERVO TRAVELS TO PUT THE BAND ON THE SLOWER ITLL REACT TO THIRD OIL .HOWEVER IF THE AREA OF THE THIRD ACCUMULATOR WASNT LARGER THAN 2ND APPLY THE BAND WOULD NEVER COME OFF AS THE SERVO REMAINS CHARGED IN 2 3 AND 4TH GEARS .THIS LARGER VOLUME IS THE RESULT OF INCREASED THIRD ACCUMULATOR AREA IN THE SERVBO BORE...WE GOT A KILLER SERVO ...............PERIOD .WWW.CKPERFORMANCE.COM
