ok i just yanked my turbo, so that i could do a little maintenance, plus drill out a broken exhaust elbow bolt.. and 1. i noticed a little shaft play when i grabbed the compressor wheel nut. it moved in and out, plus side to side. now, it never hit the sides, or anything like that when spoolin but, when i move it with my fingers, the blades just BARELY rub the inner compressor housing. is this supposed to do this when off? (im guessing not) and 2. oil came out of the vac line that leads to the wastegate actuator. there isnt supposed to be oil in that line is there....

1) The turbo will have a little side to side play, but should have no thrust. I would definately have it sent out and rebuilt, or upgraded. Note: If you have thrust play in the turbo, you likely have wheel damage.

2) No oil should be in any vacuum hoses. This may be from oil slipping by the turbo seals or the inlet bell, if your tube is still hooked up to the pass. valve cover. I would also look at the intercooler hoses. If they look oily, remove the intercooler and clean that out too.

Hope this helps you.

yea, my oil tube is blocked off but, my wastegate actuator is FILLED with oil. in fact, its STILL leaking oil now, and i yanked it a week ago.. time for a rebuild :(

well, i called precision turbo, and spoke with them for a while. From the sounds of it, my turbo should only need a basic rebuild, which was bearings and seals. 185. outSTANDING price. what a deal. Of course, it could very easily lead to more but, i yanked my turbo immediately, at the first sign of something wrong (small puddle of oil in my hose, right in front of my inlet bell)
No wheel strikes, impacts, or crazy stuff. just some worn seals/bearings. :)
I'm all over that. And will have the peace of mind, knowing that guys very familiar with turbos from buick guys are operating on my precious car parts.
I know that buick guys are infamous for being dicks about their cars. (and rightfully so too!) Ive personally witnessed a site quit dealin with all wheels that fit on ANY G body, cuz of the turbo regal guys wanting their **** soo perfect, and asking soo many difficult questions. lol. Its good that we have these vendors here, or we'd be **** outta luck....
