I heard on an rx-7 board(froma guy who says he works for shell) that all of the V-power(premium) is atleast 94 octane....anyone know anything about that? If that's true, I'll never buy 91 again!
Very doubtful, no free lunch, maybe our friendly fuel lab worker will stop by and confirm but if shell doesn't put 94 on the pump why would they go to the trouble?
91, no doubt that would be a pain if thats all you can get. 94 would be cool although I'm sure they'd charge for it with todays oil prices. From past reading, every point makes a pretty signaficant diff in the boost you can run and we need all we can get now that everyones finally found out forced induction is the way to go except for those die hard spray heads
Well gas is never exactly 93 or what ever, it has to be a minimum of 93 ocatane so its not unbelievable that its 94. I run nothing but shell 93 as I could always run more boost with no detonation on it. Now with alky 25 psi is no problem
From what I know, Shells base fuel is fungible, so it's the same as most others. It's the Techron additve package that has more detergents than lesser brands.
Refiners are very good at getting right on 93. They rarely give away octane.

this is true. most if not all gas is the same. if shell puts a 1000 gallons of gas in a tx pipe line, the 1000 gallons they pull out of that same pipe line is not that 1000 gallons, it could be exxon/mobil 1000 gallons. the only thing they care about is that they get the same amount out. they add the fun stuff after its recovered.
