Shift Cable for Concole shifter BOKE! Cant get one that works! Anyone else have Issue

Just like the title says Shift cable broke got 2 different brands now and both are JUNK! One is a Pioneer the other is an ORM?? Neither work they fit but they do not allow the trans to go all the way to the park Postion and you can not pull back to 1st gear (all the way back) Its like the travel is not there and is short or some thing. The things go right in but the Pioneer the hole was not even punch all the way threw and had to be filled to go over the stud you put the clip on to retain it.

As everyone here Im sure knows GM discoutined this cable a few years back. SO My Question is !!! DOES ANY ONE HAVE A BRAND OF CABLE THAT WORKS??? AND WHERE CAN IT BE PURCHASED ???

Ive done spent over $100 on 2 cables that dont work (There going back tomorrow)

Is the only option to go to an after market shifter or custom make up some sort of Universal One out a B&M or Hurst maybe?

Im going nuts it finally stopped Raining and I just need a freaking cable to drive my car before it gets really crapy out here in Mi.

Last if I Do have to go to an after market shifter what are people using that you dont have to completely Deface the center concole???

Have you tried the repo one that nos4gn offers? or the one from extreme automatics?

Same problem, the repops are seem to separate inner/outer sheath;
just put my 3rd one on & it lasted 1 min. and separated when I went through the gears!!!
They all seem to be Dorman units and have a slightly different design than original one.
the Dorman p/n is 04280 & you can get from nos4gn
also Amazon, Advance, O'Reilly)
Getting VERY frustrated!

Ya I got 2 one was from O'reily the other was from another small parts store here in town. The one is a Dorman the other is a Pioneer I got the later from O'Reily and its JUNK! The other one was also the same cable it didnt work for crap and had the same issue Cant get the parking pole to lock and will not shift back to 1st gear. It will go to rev. and OD and Drive and 2 but not 1 Its junk. If thats all there is then Ill just have to find a way to put another shifter in the thing or Fab some thing with a universal Cable maybe :/ Not a happy camper at all.

I just looked up Highway stars are they really selling the factory cables?? Ill pay the $99 if its a real GM part They must have purchased all the old stock or some thing. I may get 2 just in case

Highway Stars (nos4gn) sells the OEM in orig pkg; I bought the repro from them & it failed, they sent replacement, it just went south on me!
I'm going OEM even if it costs more its worth the assurance and hassle.

I have to give props to nos4gn, they have GREAT customer support!

I ordered the OEM one on Friday Night I just hope we have it before Wed when we have to move the car out of the shop we swapped the trans in :/
Guy has been more than helpful with letting it set there for 7 days trying to fix this issue.
