I broke my shifter cable and I bought one from g body parts. It measures 26.25". I'm going to try and find my old broken one, the plastic part broke, and measure. Does anyone know what correct length should is? The one I got my g body parts is too short and I think he orders his from GM.

Thanks,
Charles

Funny, the one I got from Advanced Auto and Auto Zone were both to short as well. It would not go into position 1. I cut the end off (shifter side) and threaded both pieces with a tap and die set. Next I installed a threaded spacer and a couple jam nuts. Now I have an adjustable lenght shifter cable.
I only spent the time to do this because I was getting pissed with the POS cables I was getting.

One Cable fits Buick & Olds and one fits Chevy & Pontiac.

ATP #Y651
B & O = 26.15">> More Information for ATP Y651

ATP #Y239
C & P = 27.25">> More Information for ATP Y239

The SSMonte #Y239 cable may work better, it's 1.10" longer.

""I just noticed the area where the Cable end fits in the Trans bracket is larger on the Chevy/Pontiac cable so the Bracket would need to be modded or swapped."" :frown:

I compared my original one to the new and they are the same size. What the hell is going on?

Hey if I send you my cable, could you do the same thing?
