Shifter button stuck

My stock shifter "button" is stuck inside the shifter. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix or should I just buy a new one?

Mine did that and got worse and worse. One of the parts was cracked in half and was just held by the handle. I just bought the pieces that fit inside the handle and it was back to normal.

I got them from http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/. It was about 4 yrs ago.

I'm pretty sure Kirbans has the shifter handle if you need a new one, or Brian at gbodyparts.

We manufacture all the upgraded shifter handles. If you need some parts let me know. Sounds like you need to remove your end chrome ring.Just pull off. This will release the slider piece. Then there is a spring behind that.
The slider could be fatigued or the spring may be done. easy fix.

Could be the spring broke, at the bottom of the shifter lever in the console
