I was just wondering if its just me or does it take every shop over 3 months to do a engine rebuild.I am not having much done to it just a line bore with all 4 caps and a ATR roller cam installed and your stander put together.I droped it off late december befor xmas and they say its not back from the machine shop.I know this place in detroit does good work but iam starting to wonder if i should do somthing without making a big deal.I have kept up with my end of the deal by sending almost all the money and iam worried that its not going to be done in time. What should i do?I hope the place that is doing the work read this post and maybe they will get it done soon.I mean really how many times can i call without being rude.Or maybe its just the way thing are.

machine shops can take forever...... start calling them 2x week to "inquire" how things are going. They will be sure you get you out faster than if you were to sit on your hands and hope it gets done quickly. Just my 2 cents.

My machine shop can take a while as well..... It is just the way.

That nothing compared to a paint job.

But about your problem. You needn't worry. They'll get it back to you when ythey're damn good and ready.

Oh, and if you call them twice a week, they'll either slow down, shove it in the corner and ignore it altogether, or f it up to teach you a lesson...

Engine rebuilds and paint jobs............

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, you want the work done quickly, but you tell them to take their time, thinking they will do a better job, then you want it back, but don't want to upset them so they do a bad job..........

Go by the shop, visit with the employees, show them that you know a crank from a cam and that you "can't wait" to try out thier work and tell others how good of a job they did.

Worked for me......(Not on a GN engine though)

Don't worry. I've been waiting on my engine for a while too. All the machine shops are buried in work this time of year.

I sent mine out to be machined the first week of december. Two days later they (overnite trucking) couldn't find my engine. Tracking numbers didn't turn up a thing. They said if it is not at the destination in two more weeks they'd consider it lost and put out an APB. I finally got them to look a little harder on Jan 10 when I lost my temper on the phone. It was sitting 10 minutes up the road from the machine shop at a terminal with NO I.D. tags on it, hence the reason the tracking numbers wouldn't work.
It should be worth the wait.
