Been a few years since I owned a TR and just got another. I used Direct Scan on my last one, but sold it with the car. I did keep my OTC though. As of right now, I'm planning on the car being an occasional driver with a little track time.

I like the idea of the Scanmaster from what I've read, but don't know if it'll do anything my OTC won't other than being mounted where I can see it. I really like to record data at the track, so I think the power logger might be the way to go.

Can't afford both right now. Which way should I go?

If you can't afford both, and already have a laptop with a USB port, then go with the Powerlogger.
The obvious difference would be 8 data points on the OTC during a typical run (along with the loss of data between each 1.5 second point)
or
several hundred data points during a typical run with powerlogger.
Loggable, and recordable.

Scanmaster is a good daily street device with no laptop required, but can't record your data for track use.
