Shuddering

When I'm in gear at idle it starts to shudder a bit there is an vaccum line on the top of the trans I've asked before but no clear answers is this small line a breather for the trans or does it need to be hooked up to vaccum??? I'm new to dealing with automatic transmissions any help I would appreciate greatly, thanks

That line on top of the trans is a vent tube. It is not supposed to be attached to anything.
