For the time being I have a 4 channel 700 watt amp. With the current setup it's more bass than my ears can handle. I'm going to be looking for a new 15" sub soon and need to know what the advantage is to a dual voice coil. Can I bridge both sides of the amp and run one to each voice coil?

IMO if you're running a single sub you get better SQ when you go with a dual voice coil speaker.

Can I bridge both sides of the amp and run one to each voice coil?

Yes you can, this is what I'm doing in both my Buick and Lightning.

You didn't say what kind of amp---but what you need to take into consideration when buying the woofer is matching the OHM loads of the amp and speaker. What i mean by that is----see what ohm load the amp likes to run(i.e. 4 ohm or 2 ohm)---that way you don't purchase a single voice coil 8 ohm woofer.MOst dual voice coil woofer are 8ohm per voice coil--so when wired in paralell--it will be a 4 ohm load.
