Hey guys. I know this is probably a complete newbie question but please bare with me.;)

I own a '99 GTP and just bought a used SMC kit from one of the members here to help with my KR problems.

I noticed in a thread in a different forum that a guy with a different kit was having trouble with the engine vaccume sucking the alky/water into the engine when the pump was off.

I have heard of aquamist high speed switches that eliminate this, but was wondering if SMC has somthing like this to keep it from happening.

I asked the seller and he said he doesnt know, but that he never had any problems.

I know its probably really simple, but I am in my Alky infancy!

Thanks!

You need a solenoid to block fluid from being drawn into the motor if the nozzle was placed after throttle body. Before throttle body.. not an issue.

Steve at SMC sells solenoids to work with his kits.

hmm.

Thanks Razor.

Is that for L67 applications? Or GN's?

With the L67 the I cant see it making that much of a difference where it be before or after the TB. (unless it was waaay down the line by the filter)

Thanks for the help, Ill try to contact Steve to find out more too. :)

Any application whereby a nozzle is placed after TB will require a solenoid.

:)

thanks again.

Hey, dont you have a GS?

Also, will any aftermarker alky high speed solinoid work? And do you sell them?:D

Thanks!

I sell solenoids, problem lies in the fact you'll need to change your pressure hose, and wire it into the controller. Hence why I suggested you contact Steve at SMC.

On mine I make an electronic driver so it clicks on when the system fires. But its a lot more than a simple solenoid.

I guess best way is to trigger it off the built in pressure switch inside the SMC box. So when the switch activates, it also activates the solenoid. Check with Steve for a simpler solution with his kit if possible?

I have never used an aquamist solenoid. Nothing fancy, just needs to be alcohol compatible.

No I dont have a GS, tho I did an install on an 03 back in Feb this year. Thats the one on my site under install pixs.

Aaaahh! :D
I see.

Ok. Thanks so much for the help. I did email steve and he said they have them, Im just waiting for him to get back with me on the details.

Thanks for all you help. You guys have a great board here. :D
