SMC kit-what alcohol to use?????

I bought a SMC progressive alchy kit a few years ago. It's the newer style with the factory coolant tank for the alchy, and the progressive controller. Just wondering what alcohol/mix you guys use? I think the directions say to use a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol and water. I keep seeing that a lot of people use methanol.....what's the deal?

Methanol;
you can mix it up to 50/50 (i put a couple of drops of food coloring in just for fun!)
You can use isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) but it gets expensive
I get my meth from the local speed shop (Home Depot etc. are way too expensive)

Is it better to run 100% meth if you can.....or are you better off mixing 50/50?

100% denatured here with no problems......I would use meth but its hard to find around here..unlesss the track is open.

I've got an ethanol source so I run 100% denatured and it seems to work fine.

100% denatured here. NO problems except the pump looks like it's a leftover from WW2........

You can go 100%; play with it and see if you get good results w/ a little water added (again up to 50%) you might be able to stretch your $$. If the pump is fairly new I think you are OK using straight methanol

Can you use washer fluid? The kits in summit say you can use winshield washer fluid.....

I would be cautious, it might be more of a water injection; manufacturers make 2 blends for the seasonal changes in temps. The winter mix, which has more alcohol in it, is still below 50% (I think); The summer blend is right out with less than 1/3 alcohol (again," I think...). You might want to verify my info but I am of the opinion it is spot on.
You could probably use it in a pinch but you would not get the performance as if you were running full meth, of course.
You might want to check with Razor to verify I'm somewhere in or near the neighborhood of correctfulness

Okay, so far I've used "right out", "spot on", I'm on a roll!

100% methanol here with no problems. Try using Heet (12 oz. yellow bottle for $1.89 @ Napa), or air brake system antifreeze made by "GUNK" (1-gallon steel container for $13.99 @ Napa). Do not use the Iso-Heet (12 oz. red bottle) as is contains ethanol which does not cool as good as methanol. The Heet is about 99% methanol (clear) and the air brake antifreeze is 97% methanol (contains about 1 to 2% of a bitter tasting chemical for safety purposes around children and is blue in color).

With my set up I use 100% methanol (no water) only b/c I need the extra fuel to run 11's with 42.5lb injectors and 25-26 psi (e90 pump gas)....this way I don't have to go with larger injectors and have to change chips.

+2 for windshield wiper fluid....I don't recommend it due to the different mixes from different makers. Usually the -20 wiper fluid does not contain enough alcohol/methanol.
