Like the title says, I just removed both bumpers and am looking to remove the impact strips and bumperettes and get everything smoothed out. I don't weld so I am looking for someone who call weld-fill the holes so I can take them to get powdercoated. If you know of anyone in the Sparta/Morris County area please let me know. Thanks.

Any body shop can do it. I removed my impact strips and wheel well trim. Was a little easier for me because I had the entire car painted. The car has a smooth look to it now. If you look around here on the site you'll find a bunch of cars like that. That's what gave me the idea. Good luck.

Hi pal. I'm not a welder by trade but I have my own Lincoln 180 mig and I smoothed my bumpers myself. I'm in rockaway/Denville. If your interested in saving some money and have me do it, pm me.

Local shop wants $750 to weld, smooth and powdercoat both bumpers. Does that seem reasonable?

I don't think that is unreasonable but price would be my second concern. You need to check out their welding.

To powdercoat a bumper here in super expensive L.I is about $125.00 each. So 250.00 in coating and 450.00 to weld them up. To me that looks high. Even if coating was 150.00 each, at 200.00 each for welding would be high. Its also something that I can do my self do that is maybe why I think is high. I can't weld worth a damn but I am pretty good with a grinder.

Also remember if your going to powder coat them you cannot use regular filler(bondo). They do make a filler that can be powder coated.

Just went to a body shop, he has worked on my cars before and does very good work. He is going to fill and grind smooth both bumpers for $300 which I think is much more reasonable. Another $300 for the sand blasting and powder coating make total project cost $600 which isn't too bad I guess.

Why not let Buddy help you out.... You asked for a welder... You have one on the forum, and he's close to you. There are a lot of very helpful people on here and they're TR owners :p. You never know what else Buddy may be able to help you on building a Pretty n Fast TR :)..... And most of all I'm sure he won't rob you. Just my opinion

Thanks for the kind words, King Kong ...he mentioned he was looking to get it done ASAP and I am only able to do the work nights and weekends between work and family stuff. If hed like to bring them down where I weld them and you bring them home and grind yourself, that's fine with me. The welding is easy. It's the grinding that needs to go slow so you don't go too deep or distort the metal.
