You don't see the guy for 5 yrs now he's on every channel doing interviews? Hard to believe he played for 10 yrs and put up them kinda numbers. He's actually still young enough to come play and be competitive still. Wonder if he may ever play again...hrm, I can think of New England team that would kill to get him! :)

Not sure were Barry came from but I know he does not want to play for the NFL again ,he in no way wants to break the NFL rushing record which he could have and may still be able to do .He just does not want the attention , he did want to be on a winning TEAM though .

Mark

Yea, very hard to understand...he could own every record and he knows that. Stange. You gotta wonder tho if a Superbowl team, say a Indy, NE, KC came to him and said we want you next yr what he'd say. To be that good and not have a ring must suck, I bet he'd want a crack at it on a good team...aka Ray Borque...trade me to get me a stanley cup then goodbye

You go play for a team where half the players have no heart. The quarterback sucks and has an overwhelming fear of getting hurt. The coach maintains no disicipline or work ethic and you are the only reason the team maintains a winning record and without you they would be the worst team in the league. See if you wouldn't be through with the NFL. With the offensive weapons Detroit had they should have won a string of super bowls. They had arguably the two best recievers at the time and the best running back ever. Unfortunatly they had a QB who after taking his first hit in a game would worry more about getting hurt than actually trying to win a game. That year in the playoffs when Mitchell folded up in the fetal position on 4th down on the 3 yard line instead of trying to make something happen just flat made me sick and I think after watching the video enough times its no wonder Barry didn't come back after that.   Now you got my blood pressure up. I'm a big time OSU fan and I think Barry is the best. Its a shame he ended up playing for such a crappy team. Can you imagine if he would have played for Dallas or Pittsburgh or the Niners. Geez.

Barry is the greatest ever. Hands down. He was impossible to tackle without help. The Lions are a joke. That team had absolutely zero leadership. I wish Mooch was around then.

Barry Sanders is prolly the most exciting football player I've ever seen. The things he did were just amazing. Dante Hall and Michael Vick don't even compare to him! I doubt he'll come back but if he does I know a team in Phila. who could use another RB

He's actually been just hanging out here in Oklahoma. I've had a couple friends who ran into him at like Wal-Mart and grocery store. Said hes one of the nicest guys youll ever meet, takes pics, signs autographs. down to earth. But, who in the heck with that kinda money would come back to Oklahoma.

I could be wrong but I think the reason you are seeing Barry Sanders everywhere again is that he is eligible for the Hall of Fame this year.

He has made it clear that he does not have the desire to play in the NFL again...for anyone.

He was an AWESOME back. The most natural talent of any running back that I have seen in recent history. I still think Emmitt Smith in his prime had way more heart and desire to play the game than Barry but Barry had more natural talent.

He was a damn exciting player. You have to admit, Hall and Vick are completely changing the league. Now you actually HAVE to worry about the quarterback scrambling for more than 2 yards and having a kick return be brought back big yards or for a touchdown. I am a tried and true Illinois fan and 49ers fan. The Niners were never known for their running game, but Jerry Rice... as Will Ferrell once said "You my boy, Blue". Even though he went to the Raiders, I still cheer him. IMO he is the best receiver ever, and never caused problems (moss) and rarely missed a game, and never used drugs. Role model and an awesome player all wrapped up in one.

Hall of Fame perhaps...........

but he has a new book out that he is promoting called "Now you see him" (or now you see me, I forget which one) so he is promoting it on many of the talk sport shows. He left the NFL for many reasons many of them already mentioned here. Can you blame him? At least he can still walk.......Never been but's what wrong with OK? Drew

I would agree with all of you. If you took say Emmits drive and Barry's talent...man, I couldnt' even imagine. He is w/out a doubt the most talented back I've seen. Tonight on DTV on the NFL channel he was on....w/his book and all. One interesting thing they said is that he averaged about 100yrds /season of Negative yardage and holds the record for that w/like 1200 yrds or something, but if you took that away, his avg per carry would go from like 4.x to over 6! unreal.

I'd still love to see a one season shot on a legitimate team w/a championship shot. If he were every on even a team with one ounce of talent and a line all them years in Detroit he would hold every record for sure.

Ray Borque

My bad! and I thought I was cool with my sports knowledge! In the interview i saw Sanders in he came across as well spoken, sincere, knowledgable, educated guy. Maybe he can come back with Deon and Keyshawn!!!!!! Drew

HAHA, no prob. The interview I saw he liked the word "Um" and um, yea, um..um..um...ya know, um... He musta got his hooked on phonix set after this interview to prep ;)

That is true except you could say that with many of our politicians. Ted Kennedy comes to mind . Listen to him and by the time he gets done you have forgotten what he said! Drew

tk

yeah, he's gotten more passes than he deserves.

Sanders left the NFL to soon for the fans but not for himself. He was electrifying to watch for sure. Drew

That's because the fat ba$tard said nothing to begin with!!:D :D
And folks wonder why we have problems in this country.. because people like him have a say in how it's run.....:( :(

Emmitt more heart than Barry????   NEVER!! You put Emitt on that crappy team with that horrible coach and I'll bet he would have retired too. They had Barry locked into a contract he couldn't get out of and he had a choice at the time to either keep on giving %150 for a team where the norm was just showing up or to retire and save himself from injury. Why would you want to hurt yourself for a team that doesn't want to win. Hell your a multi-millionaire anyway, I don't blame Barry. You go back and watch the tapes, Barry fought for every frickin yard. Guys like Barry and Emmitt play the game to win. Yeah the moneys nice but when you start going in their breaking records and giving it everything you got you expect the rest of the team to rise to you not hang on you. Emmitt and Barry were both awesome players and its real hard to compare them because they were in totally different situations.
