That's awesome! Very creative.

I keep my Buick in a rented garage near a large development of low spread out apartment buildings. I try to be considerate (no revving or throttle hops) but it's hard to keep it quite when I start it up early on a Sunday to take it to a show. I get all kinds. Sometimes dirty looks and some people come over and say "hello. Can I take a better look?!"

All you can do is try to be as considerate the best you can. After that, F-them! Just keep an eye on it and make sure nobody tries to do something spiteful.

My buddy has a 67 chevy truck that is not real loud at idle but at idle is has a real low sound to it. His neighbors live above his garage hat his guts over the truck.

Not me, but I think my 16 year old daughter would like to send me a letter just like that. I leave 4 times a day at 4am. Sometimes I do take the Grand National and she really bitches that she can hear it a 1/4 mile down the road!

My wife actually told me she would pay for mufflers with her own money, told her to stick it.hahahaha

My neighbors hate the rumble dumble as well. But like I tell em, there's nothing really more American. And if they don't like my car, then the terrorists win. I bet if you were to take my car anywhere in the world and start the bitch up, even if the people around didn't know a lick about cars, they'd all say the same thing, "I don't know what it is, but it's American." A strong country means strong cars!

LOL, dammit D, I thought it was your handwriting...no i keep mine at a place where smoky burnouts are encouraged even if you have tires with under 100mi. On them...I'm trying to post a video but can't finger it out...Mike

My neighbors hate my truck. I used to leave at 3:30am for work. They hate how loud my GN is even if it really isnt. My girlfriends Cobra is pretty loud too. They hate that car more LOL.

My buddy has a TBSS with a ProCharged 408 stroker and its loud and obnoxious. I'm sure it won't be long before I catch heat over that truck too LOL

Screw 'em if they cant take a joke..

LOL....Had one crabby neighbor lady come storming up to my car whilst I was in the driveway at 1pm in the afternoon. Recently had installed the XFI and was verify timing, tweaking fuel map, IAC, etc. Just at idle mind you. In naggy liberal spoiled richy richy voice "Do you have to idle your car for this long? Im outside in my backyard and I feel like I need earplugs." She lives across the street and 3 houses down. I bit my tongue and explained that yes I need to idle it that I was tuning the car. She stomped off mad as a wet hen. Shes the only house in the neighborhood with a tall wooden fence completly surrounding her yard and always keeps her blinds closed ...go figure. I resisted the temptation to open the cutout and get on the transbrake and 2 step in front of her house.

You guys just brought back an old memory.

Around 1992 i lived in a residential neighborhood and i had an 87 GT with gutted cats and mufflers that might as well have been straight pipes. Well, in those days i’d be coming home around 3 or 4 am.

I make sure I’m home by 2 these days :dead:.

Anyway, I had the car there for about 2 years. 13.5 at the track BTW, stock, but thats another story. So fast forward about 10 years to 2002 and i run across one of my neighbors, good guy, and as we’re talking he tells me “I always knew when you came home”. He lived 5 houses down  and I came from the other direction :eek::eek:.

Needless to say, I had some pretty cool neighbors because no one ever complained.

D

How loud could a Grand National be? Going through the turbo and open pipe isn't louder than a bunch of the flowmaster equipped pickups with cowboy tips around here. Our truck sets off car alarms when I drop my daughter off for work. It is two 12" glasspacks and 3 1/2" 24" long tips. It sings at full throttle.

If I don't give it a bit when going down the street my neighbors wonder what's wrong with it.

Funny you say that.

On a long trip, I pulled into a rest stop once to take a break and give the car a general look over. While I was on one knee peeking at the underside, I heard someone say "Yep, Sounds like you have a problem. When you drove up I heard it too." I looked up and saw this pleasant looking older fella and his wife who were at least close to eighty years old. I kindly asked "Sir, what did you here?" He said "Your exhaust. I think it's broke and you'll need a new one." I smiled and said "I think you may be correct. I'll look into getting it replaced soon.":)

I always keep it quiet around the neighborhood. The neighbor across the street walks his HD ultra glide down the block a few houses so it doesn't wake up my kids at 4 am, I always appreciate that.

keep doing what you are doing until someone in the neighborhood grows a pair and talks to you about it like a human being..

also, maybe throw a neighborhood bbq at your place and make everyone think you are the coolest dude to ever live.. maybe take people for rides in your car... that would really get to whoever was chickenshit enough to leave you that letter instead of talking to you face to face.
