Hmm....how long has this been going on?

I had to sell my restored 71 Chevelle this past January, car was shiny red/black interior, had a fresh 396 bbc, auto, 12 bolt, bucket seats, disc brakes, posi trac, dual exhaust, had new interior, just needed minor cosmetics....I had $12k in the car and due to a move ended up taking $8k for it.

Yet I can go online and see similar cars like it priced at least twice the amount I sold mine for.

Not that I plan on selling my car, but it blows me away seeing how much people are asking....but if it's really a buyers market are these sellers just looking for a potential bite? I mean if they really wanted to sell wouldn't you think they'd drop the price? I don't get it....

I've been looking at several different cars and the prices are all over the place...like TTA's...search Autotrader.com and you'll find several with under 5k miles with prices from $25k all the way to $60k. Some other collector TAs with under 10k miles going for $19k while another with higher mileage is asking $28k.... Oh and the '79 10th Anniv Pace Car TA started out at $57k..and now I see it went down to $36k now.

Wow didn't know TTA's were commanding such high prices. I'd like to have one someday, looks like an LS1/6 speed would be cheaper.

All you have to do is follow some of the 'cars for sale' ads here to see how soft the market is. I am guessing these people with the mega-high pricing are just looking for the stupid buyer. But then again, it's worth what someone is willing to pay.

cars AND housing are soft. Only one's it doesn't effect is the big $$$ stuff (old cars )
