Right now I have 853's in the engine.
I have a lifter that collapsed and was thinking I would go with a solid lifter.
Is this a good idea? What would I have to do to make the change?

It takes a lot of spring pressure to collapse a lifter. Id re-evaluate your problem. Id rec 885 hyd lifters unless you have race ported aluminum heads and want to open the window up top so you can run high mph in 3rd.
