You'll have to find out how far it comes off the rad.

I made my own upper rad hose.

The pic is when I was running the V2 with Cotton's 3" IC pipes

Were did you get the tubing?

I totally forgot. I believe I searched on McRae's Blue Book or Thomas Registry for places around me that sold stainless tubing. I believe the upper tube is 1 1/4", which is a pain to find. I bought some straight tubing and had it bent at a chassis shop. You have to be careful in bending the tubing that it doesn't kind. I tried bending it with an EMT bender and it kinked.

The upper rad hose kits out there use 1 1/2" tubing/hose which is the wrong size. The companies expect you to squeeze down on the hose clamp to make up the difference, which I think is wrong. Hence the reason I made my own.

I got the hose from Silicone Hose For Coolant and Turbo Applications

Go to homedepot & buy a couple of chromed sink drains, they have different lengths and are the correct 1.25" size. Just cut your stock hose where you need bends. Uses a couple extra hose clamps. Cheap yeah, but looks good.;)

I used a shorter piece of the drain pipe nearest the radiator, can't really see it all that well in the pic...

Isn't that the same one that GN1 sells though? Same issue as what Billy was referring to...I have been on the fence for awhile about purchasing this.
It's a nice piece. I only wish I had one for the lower too.

I have the gn1 pipe and it was a tight fit and worked great with my fmic piping. It was the correct size for the rad and thermostat housing

Look UNDER the GN1 one and you will see my new style one. Looks pretty close to the one discussed. I only use one chrome piece though. Came up with this when I felt the other one was too tight between my up pipe and turbo outlet.

Mark

I believe he was asking about the diameter of the pipe.

You are right. Mark, can you please answer? Also, do you have pics of this installed with your dual spal fans? Any fitment issues? I would assume not, but I am also going to the spals.

Also, what is the benefit of the new style versus old?

Thanks! Jason

I did mine from parts i bought at Lowe's. 2 straight pieces 12'' long and one elbow then i cut the old radiator hose and used it to connect them, looks good and has worked for 6 years. ;)

cut one 3'' section of hose to connect one of the 12'' straight pipes to the thermostat housing, cut another 3'' section of hose and connect it to the end of that piece and insert the elbow, cut another piece of hose and put it on the other end of the elbow and connect the other 12'' section then cut the hose were it comes off the radiator and put the clamps on the hose / pipe connections. I don't remember the cost of those 3 pieces from Lowe's but it wasn't much.

For anyone sitting on the fence...here's my experience with this product.

Since the reducers supplied with this kit are not sized quite right.......
You'll need to buy (2) 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" Silicone Reducer Couplings if you want to get 100% proper fit. Rad pipe supplied is 1 1/4" OD and the connections on our Buicks is 1 1/2" at both the rad outlet and thermostat housing.

After lots of research and hunting....I finally found a source for these in black (which is not too common .....as I found out for this size).

Got them from :
Flex Technologies - Your Silicone Hose Solution

#R40B 125-150 @ $17.60 ea net.
These were'nt inexpensive, but fit perfectly......

With these new silicone reducer cplgs....I am now 100% happy with the fit, look and performance of this rad pipe.

Do you have pics.

Also in stock form isn't there a clamp that holds the hose to an accessory bracket. It's been a while since i seen a stock engine compartment

Took some new pics this morning of my NEW style setup. The hoses and pipe used are 1 1/4" throughout which IS the correct size. NOT referring to the GN1 style.

I recommend using the stock upper radiator rubber coated clamp to help support it. I also cut all the threads off that damn bolt the clamp was originally on to help with MAF pipe clearance.

As you can see, clearances were a little tight between my turbo outlet pipe and the up pipe to use the other setup so this is the way I went with mine. Works fine.
