Im In The Middle Of Purchasing A Razors Kit But I Was Wondering If I Had To Run Special Plugs, Im Running Ac Delco R44 At .32, Is This Ok

i run the smc alky kit dual nozzle .i have found ac delco plugs dont stand up to alky. well i run 100% methanol which really works better .but the only plug i found that works is ngk ur 4s gap from between .30-.35 depending on boost psi. if running over 30+ psi put gap at .30 helps reduce detonation.dont forget to run a good upper cylinder lube w/alky or meth .have fun running all that boost .

i use the klots upper cyl lube bubble gum smell .that is what smc sent me with the kit.most any parts store can get it for you .

And you add that to the Alky right??
I just got my Alky kit in and added alky but forgot the lube Oops I am sure it will be fine its only been run about 10 times
Mine is a Razor kit so I dont know if he recomends it or not, Nothing in the box or directions about it

im sure razor does rec using lube . yes you add it to alky i use 1 cap full per tank.just keeps pump from corroding ,and also injectors and seals from drying out .i would also try running straight methanol works great more kick in the a$$ .and razor kits are fine with methanol .works better than alky .i think razor runs methanol himself .not sure .razor if you are out there chim in .do you run methanol on your car ?????

i was under the impression that VP meth comes with lube in it?

Well Right now we are using Denatuerad alky since no place around here is stocking the VP Meth but as soon as I find it thats what will be in there

A 44 is to hot considering you are running the alky to run more boost. The gap is good but it also depends on the amount of boost.

If you plan on running around 24psi with some timing, go for the 42's gapped at .32. As the boost gets higher and if your coil is older, start dropping that gap to .30 and even lower. I personally would not run a lot of boost on a coil with more than 40k - 50k on it.

not sure if v.p comes pre lubed or not .i get torco methanol from drag strip .i still use the cyl lube .just to be on the safe side .im only paying $2.79 gallon .

hey thunder this is speed you should bring a 5 gallon jug with you this weekend .i can get you good methanol in stanton .there is a gas station past the strip about 2 miles north .$2.79 gallon .trust me it makes a diff opposed to alky .see ya tomorrow.and if you need i have plenty cyl lube for us to use!!

Cool thanks speed we are leaving here (Dearborn Area) around 8am so we should be up there around 10-11am depending on road work and such.
I wanted to leave earlier but ya know all the married people and there kids have to say good bye and poop!
Anyway I need to Know now and ASAP Who and if anyone is wanting T6 and T6 with the girl on them and what colors so I can make them and bring them with me.
If I dont know Ill just bring the few I have made now

I brought this subject up to Razor two weeks ago, he didn't recommend the lube. I'll let him explain why, he'll be back early next week. I had been visiting with an old (my age) Air Force Engine specialist when he explained why they used lube in their reciprocating aircraft engines under boost....The meth ate some parts away. Razor's system uses materials that are minimally or not affected by the meth. This sounds like a hot topic to me

Some people use marvel Mystery oil.

I think there is a hole in my meth reseviour....Have to add a gallon every week or so

i cant answer for razor cuz i run smc .steve rec using klots cyl lube .so i dont know for sure if need it in razors kit .but i would be on the safe side until he can answer .the only prob i have had with cyl lube is it will leave red tint on plugs .but doesnt foul them .only if use too much .but cant beat the kick of methanol .i need to talk to razor and see if he can make the smc kit progressive .that would be cool :biggrin:


hey lee i think mine must have hole in tank also at least 1 gallon a week but she is my daily driver .seems i cant drive the car without getting in her .my wife swares i love my car more than her !!!! lol

I've said this plenty of times :biggrin: ...

The lube is for the pump.. not your motor. On my system... ZERO LUBE

Depending on what SMC pump is being used.. will determine if lube is needed or not. Just like running water.. depends on the pump.

Please contact the "source" when in doubt. You'll screw up lots of stuff when the wrong chemicals get used. For clarification.. this means contact Steve at SMC and talk to him about your system and have him tell you what kind of alcohol, and if a lube is needed or not. This is CRITICAL STUFF SO PLEASE PAY ATTENTION>>> worst case.. you'll seize the pump and blow your motor up.

On mine.. no lube, no oils, no perfume, no acetone, no xylene, no race fuel, no soda, no whiskey/rum/vodka, etc... Just good ol plain clear alcohol(Denatured, Methanol, Isopropyl) cant be simpler.. Please be careful on giving/taking advice on this subject..

PS.. Steve never recommended using methanol in his earlier systems.. lube or not.. nor did he recommend using water in any mix.. the new diaphram pump will handle the water. And again.. CONTACT STEVE FOR CLARIFICATION..

Razor I have one of your kits I got it from Mike 2 weeks ago due I need lube?? Scrap this lame question as I just reread your post so Ill send back the lube
I know I can use Methonal so I am good there, right now has Denatured alky in it due to not bein able to get any plain Meth
But soon I will have some.
I didnt see anything in the directions about lube so I am guessin I am ok without it ??
I did purchase some from Torco and there other struff that is to help the Meth burn better ???
Recomend or send it back???

Send the lube back.

The Torco is for your gas. It cant hurt.

So dont put anything but plain alcohol into the tank. Or alcohol thats been mixed with water. The water is your option.

Says to add the Methanol Enhancer Concentrate to the Methanol in the drum 6oz treats 55 gallons. (I am guessing a .5 oz to 5 gallons (Not much)
Just came today and I am taking the info right off the bottle. What sucks is they would not ship the Meth to me I have to find a local vendor or drive to Decator Mi (have not looked where that is yet in relation to where I am in MI)
Anyway I am sending the lub back
