We now have the Spark Translator available.
The unit is the same size as the MAF Translator.
It is basicly the timing portion of the Translator plus with a few extra features. It will work on the Turbo Buick, TPI F-Body, LT-1 vehicle.
Cost is $179.00
If anyone would like instructions to preview, let me know and I will email them to you.
Thanks Guys.....

From the destructions.

Once installed the unit can be adjusted for improved performance. If detonation is experienced then the spark is too far advanced for the octane or the fuel mixture is too lean. The best way to monitor detonation is using a scantool (e.g. Scanmaster) to monitor knock retard.

The Spark Base knob can be turned clockwise to advance the spark timing. A few degrees can add additional punch to the vehicle’s acceleration. If tip-in detonation is encountered, then the timing is too far advanced. The Spark Base controls spark timing at all RPMs.

The Spark WOT knob can be turned clockwise to advance the timing at high RPMs. Counter clockwise settings retard the timing. Generally, cars without ‘power adders’ like N2O, superchargers, and turbo’s will perform best with a few degrees of spark advance. When power adders are used, then the spark is usually retarded to prevent detonation at the high power levels.

The Spark Base and WOT settings are added together in the Spark Translator. If 3 degrees of Base and 3 degrees of WOT are selected, then the engine will operate with 3 degrees of advance at low RPM and 6 degrees of advance at high RPM. The Spark Translator cannot add more than 15 degrees of total advance, or 15 degrees of total retard.

There are several WOT settings that retard timing progressively with increasing RPM. These are intended for use with centrifugal superchargers that deliver increasing boost with increasing RPM.

When AUX trigger is used the adjustment of the main controls (Base, WOT) is the same. The AUX setting is added to the total of the main controls. The AUX advance or retard is only enabled over 1000 RPM.

Kevin what is the cutoff between Base timing and WOT timing? Is it a set rpm like 4000 or does it vary by load?

Could a person in theory advance the base timing 3º for fast spoolup and retard WOT timing say 6º for crappy pump gas?

Hmmm...I hope not!! Is that directions, or instructions??:p

LOL!

I'll take a set. :)

Really.

Thinking about one of those for the GN. :)

Placing a big order over at Ramchargers soon anyway.

blackbuick: actually, retarding timing improves spool. Do it enough and you'll get mad hot EGTs though.

You can set it at 3000 or 4000 rpm.

And, you are correct in your theory.

I have always reffered to them as destructions. Why does it matter, you yahoos don't read them anyway;)

I do got plenty of sets of bad ones too. ;)

Send me a copy so I can place that order. :)

Blackbuick: one chip might be leaner than the other. the leaner you are, the faster the turbo will spool. the more you retard, up to a certain point when your egt's are so high you melt turbine blades and glow headers, the faster your spool will be. Once the turbo is spooled though of course, you want as much timing as you can get with no knock.

Kevin

is this basically the missing piece of the translator plus compared to the translator?
I know you stated something similiar to it,but does it bolt with the normal translator or is is a separate item?

I was thinking about selling the translator in hopes of getting a + but if this will bolt up per' se to the normal translator I would be more then happy to get it since it has its added features as well

thanks

Carl

It does a little more than the Plus features in the T+ thanks to the AUX trigger and all.

Looks good to me gonna get one for the GN.

Thanks for my copy of the destructions. :)

Kevin, Dave, TurboBob, Mikey, Maryanne.... ;)

Somebody get this thing up on the Ramchargers ordering site. :)

TIA
