Squeaking Odometer?

Merry Christmas, Everyone,

Just got done removing my digital cluster and lubricating both the upper and lower speedometer cables. Took the car for a test drive, and it still squeaks. Seems strange to me, since the car only has 41k on it.

Is there something in the odometer area that needs to be lubricated? Has anyone ever done this? Keep in mind this is a digital dash. Or, maybe I need a new cable? Although the old one looked to be in pretty good shape when I pulled it.

Thanks,

I'd use machine oil on the bronze bushing, and some white lithium on the gear teeth. The squeak is probably the rotating magnet drum or the shaft that connects to it.

Put a very small amount of light oil on the bronze and a very small amount of white lithium grease on the gears. Also put some more white lithium grease on the cable. Finally quiet as one of the mice that invaded my car a few years ago.

Thanks a bunch for all your help. If you ever do that write up on fixing the trip reset switch, I'd be interested.
