Ok, this may seem like a stupid question... im not too familiar about the stage II block or heads. Im just wondering if you can bore out a 109 block .30 over to make it a Stage II then cryo-treat it to strengthen the block. Then on the heads... i have no clue how the stage II heads are different.

Thing that im asking is.. Can i use a 109 block for a Stage II on center.

And can i use the stock GN Heads and convert them to stage II heads...

Sorry for a question like this.. im just a lil curoius about the Stage II stuff..

Thanks for the help.

Nope.

Stage 2 blocks were used in the nascar bush series. I'm definately not a stage II guru either. The stage 2 blocks were bigger and beefier, all aluminum, 14 bolt heads etc. There is nothing the same between a 109 block and a stage 2 block. You're looking at $15000 to build a decent stage 2 motor.

Absolutely NO on all counts!! Stage II blocks are considerably different than the 109 block. 14 bolt head bolt/stud pattern as apposed to 8 for the 109 (stage I blocks can be machined for 14 bolts). Internals of the blocks are VERY different.

As for heads, go here:
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/pictureguides/heads/headguide.html
and compare them. You can see (even though the stage II head pictures absolutely suck) that there is abosutely NO comparison between stock and stage II heads.

Here's the block photo guide with lots of photos and descriptions to look at:

You can also go here and see my Stage II heads for a better look:

Hope that helps

I've got plenty of stage II heads and misc parts. Your going to hunt for a while to find a good block. Drop me a line if you need anything.

Stage II block

87grandnational: I have a stage II block for sale. It just has a 1987 T-Type wrapped around it. I'm not being a fecitious, just trying to promote my sale.
