Which is better stage1 or stage 2. I found a guy with a stage 1 block. What is the difference:confused:

njturbo,

You might want to post this in the Stage II forum but I think I can give you what you need to know. The Stage I block is easier to configure as it will accept all the stock components. You will have to get an early style oil pan and pick up from a 14 bolt motor (pre '84) and a timing cover too. Everything else is a bolt on.

The Stage II block is machined from the same casting (if we're comparing off center blocks) but has steel 4 bolt main caps at the #2 & 3 positions and is drilled for 14 bolt heads also. Stage II motors require a special oil pickup or can be set up as a dry sump configuration. There are some differences in the oiling system but I think this gives you the info you need.

Do you think a stage 1 is a good engine and is it 4 bolt Main? Stage 2 off center are so hard to find, however i found this guy that has alot of new pieces and this stage block casting number off block ends in 16. Looking thos part number up, it tells me this is a stage 1 off-center. I just wanted to know if this was as good as the stage 2 off center. It is a real stage 1 off center?

No you are wrong, not all stage engine are off center. There are off center and on center.

Actually he's right.

ALL Stage I's are Off center. Stage II's are a different story.
