stainless exhaust

hello; I have a RJC SS exhaust that's about a year old. I just got the car out for the first time and I was giving it the once over. Crawling under the car I found some surface rust that I could not remove completly and that's using a knife to scrap at it. It's in a no see from above area but I guess SS can rust also. I thought it would not.
I'm not worried but I thought that would not happen.

There are different grades of SS. All the ones used on exhausts that I've ever seen, will get some surface rust. Most likely, the welds from the mufler shop will be the limiting factor.
