Car started fine until yesterday. I have a Thesher chip in with the theft option. Yesterday I started it like I was supposed to and it would start and die like I did it wrong. I put the stock chip in and it started up normally. Later, I put the Thresher back in and it started like it was supposed to. Weird. So last night I get in and it starts and dies again. I put the stock chip in and it doesn't crank at all. The starter just clicks rapidly. Battery has power. The weird thing is that nothing is showing up on my scanner when my key is on the ON position like it is supposed to.

Did my ECM crap out on me? I checked the connections and they are fine.

If the starter just clicks, one of two problems. A: The solenoid on the starter took a dump or the starter is bad. B: More common is that your battery is low. Have the battery checked and charged. Even new batteries can croak. Once this is done the car should start fine. If the battery checks out good then Check the starter, easy to remove. If this checks out OK then you need to look at the fusible links in the wiring going to the large terminal on the starter. Hope this helps.

thanks. I did the ghetto battery test (headlights and windshield wipers) and it seems to have juice. I'm going to bang on the starter and see if I can get it to starter that way.

A battery may have juice to light lights and such but if it has weak or dead cells, it will not have the amperage to crank. Most advance, autozones and the such can test it.

I just jumped it and it started. Now I just need to figure out why my car doesn't always start with the Thresher chip in.
