I got a blue t type steering wheel out of the junk yard and the spokes are a little rusty , what can be done to restore them to a like new finish and maintain the grain.
 
The best thing to do is to use mothers aluminum mag polish the stuff treally polishes off on all sorts of metals,you might have to put some pressure on the buffs but it will turn out really shiny once you are done with it.
 
You can also use 0000 steel wool to brush the spokes with. This works real well. Just tape up the area where the leather ends on the spokes to keep from scratching the leather up. Just brush the steel wool in the same direction as the grain on the spokes.

I guess it depends on how much rust is on them. My GN had a little bit and I used a green scotchbrite pad. Now it looks brand new.
