Well I have been driving the 85 lately and hooked up the OTC and it still gets insane, knock 4-14, it is real, you can hear audible if your in it too much. 02s are in the 820 range. The car just doesn't move, it makes all the right noises, but doesn't pull, even compared to the new 140,000 mile 86 GN we bought, that is dead stock. I've upgraded the fuel pump, walbro 340, I haven't hot wired it yet and plan to, but the voltage to the pump read 12.8 which I think is pretty good. Right? The fuel pressure is at 43 with line off, and the boost is set at a measely 12 psi. We put a stock 86 chip back in and no difference. I messed with the cam sensor a while back, do you think I could have it a few degrees off in either direction? Coil and module are good, MAF is new LT1 with translator, and the injectors were cleaned abnd flowed. No blown head gasket, just changed oil and all was well. Any ideas would be great. By the way it idles great and has no hesitation at part throttle. Thanks a lot.

I know it sounds stupid but try lowering the fuel pressure down to 32-36lbs static. These cars don't like alot of fuel pressure with the stock intake. Twins was running 13.0's with 28lbs static.

Make sure you have a boost source hooked to the regulator - and verify the fuel pressure raises when you get on it. Hotwire the pump like you plan too - it will make a difference.

Hey thanks for the reply, I guess I'll lower the fuel pressure and see what happens. I had heard that when you move the cam sensor around a bit(pivot it around that 13 mm bolt), that if its not right it will start and idle smooth, but if its too advanced it will knock like crazy, even at part throttle like mine does. I'm gonna still do the timing and I'll keep ya'll posted, any more ideas are welcome. thanks.

I've never ever played with the cam sensor - I always set it and forget it.

Also make sure the turbo's not filling your intake full of oil.....

Well, we did the timing, and I checked all my hoses again. I lowered the fuel pressure and all that. Still no change. The only interesting thing was, when i pressed the diaprahm on ther egr valve, and it made no difference in the idle. so I took it off and cleaned it, and the tube coming from the intake. Put it all back together and still, it makes no difference if it is pressed in or not. I turned the car on for a sec and with the EGR off, it made a ticking sound, but it didn't blow out about of crap like it should, it just made a small exhaust leak like a cracked header would. On my 87 the intake gasket had blocked off the egr and we had to poke it out and stuff, so could this be the problem. msybe its only letting a little through. Any input would be great the fuel pump gets 13.4 volts now, and the fuel pressure went up to 56 with a rigged up contraption, that we hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator to imitate, a boost situation, so its getting fuel. 02s are in the 820s and knock has now been as high as 14, and I'm pretty sure its real(at least most of it). this is only with at the most 10 psi of boost. what do yall think. Thanks for any help

Dude your doing everything right.....time to try some real gas. Go fill the take up with some leaded race - this will tell us if the knock is real or fake.

I know most of it is real, you can hear it if it gets past 10 or so, and the otc only updates every 1.5 secs so who knows how much i might be getting thanks.

Be sure to check the coil pack. When I first got my car, I couldn't get the boost over about 5 psi! Went all around trying to figure it out, turned out to be the coil pack. Hope this helps...good luck!
