My physics professor was doing a problem the other day and wanted to know what we though our cars did 0-60mph in.

I wanted to throw a TR number at him, but I had no idea. So what did a stock 84 GN run when it was new??

Thanks!

Ive seen two figures documented, both from Car & Driver tests. December '83 issue had 8.0 seconds, and July '85 had 7.5 seconds. This was on a '84 GN and a '85 GN respectively.

1/4 times were 15.9@87 and 15.7@87.

I want to say 4.7 for the IC cars and 5.6 for the hotairs. It's amazing they did that good with the original 215-65-15 tires of the day.

Maybe I'm wrong. Now look what you've done. I have to dig through a huge pile of magazines for the next hour lol.

Wow, posting at the exact same time:p

Just looked up the intercooled results. Got two #s on them too. Car & Driver had 4.9 and Hot Rod had 5.85. In C&D they mentioned how only one production line auto sold in the U.S. would beat the TR, and that was a $50,000 Porsche 911 (0-60 in 4.6). GNX 0-60 in C&D was 4.7.

1/4 times were 13.9@98 (C&D), 14.3@98.4 (HotRod), and 13.5@102 for the GNX (C&D).

:D :D :D :p

Im pretty sure that December '83 was C&D. I just have one page for that one.
Im looking at copied pages my brother got for us years back from the library when we first got hooked on these cars.

The one I'm looking for and I can't seem to find is from 83 and is written by C. Van Tune. It's a 3 page copy from a magazine, Hotrod maybe, that showed a cutaway picture of the intake manifold and the car doing a smokey burnout. It came with the car when we bought it along with a ton of magazine articles from way back and a Powersource manual and literature from the factory.

I have an article from I think C&D on the 85s. 0-60:7.5 0-100:22.9 ET:15.7@87 Those seem a little on the slow side to me.
