I've read 4.9 seconds many times. Remember that stock GN tires were only 215/15's..... and they had minimal grip due to crappy tire technology.

I'm sure a stock GN with ET Streets or similar DOT racing tire would be even quicker as you could launch off the E-brake with 10psi+.

WOW!! Thanks for the flashback!

When I went to take delivery of my GN in February of 1986, my salesman grabbed me and said "hey, look at this". He showed me the article and he had a big smile on his face.

I unfortunately drove my car home for the 1st time in a downpour.:(

The weather cleared the following day and everything was OK.:D

Holy cow! I had no idea they were that quick from the factory! That's as quick as a new $85,000 Porsche 911 Carrera. Now if only they could brake and handle as well. But then a few of us are working on that...

Not knocking the Buick turbo (I have one!), but have seen some other road tests on the 86-87s.

0-60, anywhere from the previously mentioned 4.9 to 6.3
1/4 mile, 13.9 at 98mph to 14.7 at 92

Lotsa' variables.

I'm not trying to knock that story, or turbo Regals, but that guy has more than a test pipe and 22 psi. To run mid 12s on regular tires that thing must have more done to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest fan of turbo Regals there is, but I see an adj. regulator, larger necks on the intercooler, and there's probably a few things you can't see from the small pic. I got that issue right in front of me and can see all that stuff clearly. I'll say one thing though, that's a sneaky ole man. Nice car too! As for the subject of this thread, it all depends on the driver and weather and tune and traction.... catch my drift? I've seen stock GN times in the high 4s yet a stock GNX has an advertised time of 5.5. I know the GNX has more power and some would say would result in slower times due to that, but it also had wider tires and a better suspension for traction.

its only faster in number because buick wanted to keep a 5 hp gain over the vette on both years
