Does anyone know how fast you can go with the stock 8.5 axles and not hopefully break them? or maybe a torque figure in a 3500 lb car? thanks for the help.
agreed, but I wouldn't go by the et. I agree with Woody with the 1.5 short times, because that's when my dad snapped his a coupla years ago, even though he was running "only" high 11's
if producing 600+lbs of torque to a 3500lb car, regardless of the 60ft times will these axles most likely break? Wanted to run the car this year before the track closes and will upgrade axles over winter. do you think i can get away with it?
If you can leave at 15 psi with 28X10 slicks you will likely break an axle eventually. If you are leaving at 10 psi or lower using drag radials, you will likely not break an axle.
I've personally witnessed 3 stockers break in the mid 1.5X range. Slower than that, you will probably be fine.
