5 years ago i bought a direct replacement exhaust manifold for the drivers side thinking even though it was not cracked, I would be safer buying a new stock direct replcement, since thats the side that seems to crack more frequently. It is a new replacement for the stock manifold drivers side. They don't make a manifold for the p***enger side.I started my car up the other day and heard a ticking noise on the p***enger side.I think it is the p***enger side manifold.Should i take the manifold off and get it ceramic coated at 2000 degrees(would it be worth it?) or just simply welded up at this place that welds 87GN manifolds.

headers

Hi!
Why not just go with a good set of replacement headers? Poston sells a nice set. If you're into the cheap fix, and it's a daily driver, go with the weld job. Powdercoating would look funny on one side only, though...

are you sure its the ex manifold .it could be the liffters they do make a little tiking sound especilly if it was cold out when you started it up, those the sound get louder when you give it gas if so then it mostlikely is the manifold .

I have put alot of money in my engine.I have not heard much about Poston headers.I originally had Hooker headers on but it killed the bottom end power and i like that for the street. So i put the stock headers on and it seemed to help right away but after a day of driving it seemed like they became Hooker headers over night. Can you tell me if the Poston headers kill bottom end power? And how much they are?I know about the ATR headers being 900$ way to much for me, being that im out of work right now.Actually it was very cold when i started the car last week so hopefully that is what was making that ticking sound, but i still think I need the passenger side manifold fixed or replaced with some header that will be as close to stock as possible .Thanks you guys for responding to my post. Ray: confused:

if it turns out to bea cracked passenger header, just get it welded. dont waste youre money on aftermarket headers. guys are flying on the stockers. do a search on headers.

Its hard to make out what the noise is.When i increase the throttle at the front of the car I don't hear the ticking noise.Just seems to be at idle and seems to get noisy in the cold but after it warms up is much less noisy .Well i decided after i get it inspected next month I am going to take the exhaust manifold off and send it out for ceramic coating and repairs if needed. Thanks a million for the replies!

Poston headers are excellent for stock replacement. they fit great, dont kill your low end, and are priced right, plus more durable than the stockers. Mark

I tried to find a vendor for the poston headers but could not find one on the net.Anyone know how much they are and how to contact them?
