Stock intercooler fan

For a street car running a SLIC is the stock intercooler fan useless ? Since air is being forced through the intercooler anyway, what is the purpose of it besides adding extra weight to the crank ? I am thinking about removing it unless someone can give me a good reason not too. What do you think ? Thanks, Kyle.

sure can't hurt, fan moves heated air.
