I've done a few searches with no results that relate.

As in my sig, I have a (just under) 4k mile car. I'm going to replace the tires and store them. Likely that I'll get replacement rims as well (polish the lip!) and use those instead.

Any tips on how to correctly store tires??

If I DO replace the rims, is it better to store the tires on or off the original rims? And, what then is the BEST method to store tires (either way) to preserve them?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

In your shoes, I'd:

1) Put some kind of tire dressing on the side walls and tread

2) Put each tire in its own garbage bag

3) Store them in a cool dry place (between 55-65 degrees)

4) Store them flat, not on edge

My two cents

Probably really hard on the lungs, and hard to fit into a pipe. But thanks!

Won't tire dressing dry the tires out?

I sprayed silicone on a pool toy (rubberized foam, 6' long 24" wide and a couple inches thick) and put it in a garbage bag in the attic for 10 years....It was fine when I unrolled it.

Some conditioners (probably water based) might dry the tires, but surely, there is something that would keep them from drying out....I'd be guessing about the long term effects of silicone on tires.

Good luck :)
